0The Cycling Ireland Development riders will head over to Plymouth this weekend to take part in the final round of the British MTB Series.
The team will consist of 3 Development riders, Juniors Matthew Adair (Banbridge CC), Claire Oakley (WXC) and Youth rider Rob Deagan (EPICMTB), supported by Ciara MacManus (acting team manager) and Conor Graham (assistant manager/mechanic). This will be Matthew’s first British National race of 2011 and he will be hoping to capitalise on his winning form which he showed at the fifth round of the Scottish XC Series in Perth at the end of July. This will be Rob’s first attendance at a British National race and is looking forward to the experience of riding in a category which sees up to 45 entries.

Ulster and Irish Riders Dominate at Round 5 of Scottish XC Series at Perth
0On Saturday the Ulster and Irish XC Development teams travelled to the last round of the Scottish XC Series which was being held on Sunday in Perth, Ayrshire. With the Scottish Series renowned as producing some of the top riders in the UK the team members knew they would be in for a tough race.
The teams arrived mid-day on the Saturday for a pre-race course reccie and practice ontop of the Kinnoull Hill which dominates the city of Perth skyline. The course looked like it would be particularly tough to race on having a mixture of steep gravel/singletrack climbs – giving over 200m of climbing per lap – but also offering some fast and sweeping steep descents. However everyone agreed that the course was an excellent ride and looked forward to the competition the next day. (more…)
