XC NPS is back for 2013!

0

I’m very happy to announce that the XC NPS is back on the racing calendar for 2013. We have 6 exciting venues and clubs from all 4 Irish provinces. I’m personally very excited about the fact that we have a brand new club on board and a venue that hasn’t hosted an XC NPS yet, definitely something to look forward to!

The dates of the races will be announced soon so watch this space.

XC NPS Rnd. 6 (final round) Carn Wheelers. 24 June 2012

0

Carn Wheelers invite you to the 2012 XC NPS Rd.6 (and Ulster XC Rd.3)  on Sunday 24 June in Davagh Forest.

Online registration is now open - this is a pay-on-the-day event but you must register online. (reg. will close Fri 22 June at 6pm)

In 2011 a lot of work went into making a better course in Davagh and with more singletrack than before, it became one of the best courses on the XC calendar so for 2012 we decided to improve on our course with some more technical features whilst retaining the fast flowing singletrack that Davagh is well known for.

The course is about 4miles long and with about 20% fireroad there are plent of opportunities for passing and drinking. We will be using the start loop again this year but will turn the racers onto the main course at the end of it rather than coming through the start finish area. There will be a water splash to cool the legs, a rock garden section to catch the unwary and some technical feature to test even the most experienced mountainbikers.

Our first race of the day will be an Under 6 Fun Race, where the kids will get to enjoy a race of their own and maybe get a taste for competitve cycling. The Under 8 and Under 10 riders will use an improved mini course this year in the same location between the car park and start/finish areas, Under 12′s will complete a half lap of the main course and Under 14′s will race one full lap.

The course will be taped and ready for practice on the Saturday morning.

There will be food provided after the main races and the kids will each receive goody bags and whistles to make plenty of noise for the senior riders.

Race timing will be from ChampionChip Ireland.

Directions: Davagh Forest.
Located 10 miles north-west of Cookstown. The car park is located off the Davagh Road at the northern end of the forest. From Draperstown follow the Sixtowns Road through Straw Village. From Straw it is 3.8 miles to Davagh Road (sign posted East Sperrins Way), turn left and continue for 3.1 miles to the forest entrance on the left.

Co-ordinates: N 54.719316, W 6.920485

Camping and good food will be available at the Shepherd Rest Pub under a mile from the venue: http://www.shepherdsrestpub.com/

Racing795 Presents Leinster League Round 1

0

The 2011 Irish XC race season kicks off on 20th March with the Leinster League Round 1 presented by Racing795.

In 2010, the Wexford-based club put on a killer Leinster League race with an amazing course which had everything from DH-style rocky techy descents to super-fast swoopy flowing singletrack, and of course, that lovely Thai food afterwards!

A taster of the hot spicy-singletrack from last year can be seen below – and there’ll be even more of it this year!

Riders will be delighted to hear that the DavidsRudolf and the rest of the hard-working 795 gang have extended the singletrack sections further to create what will be a very rewarding course, no word yet on the food but be sure to keep checking their website….

If this is your first time racing, click here for an overview of what to do on the day.

VERY IMPORTANT:

You must REGISTER online and PAY online for this event, registration for this event will be open on 20th Feb 2011.

The Offroad Commission ran the first Offroad Development day of 2011 last Sunday. The purpose of the day was to begin an assessment of the riders who applied to become members of the XC Development Squad. Members of the DH Development Squad also attended to take part in the day as many of the training sessions and presentations would be equally applicable to downhill.
