Campaign to secure BMX track ‘gathering momentum’<\/span><\/p>\n

PROGRESS for a BMX track in Swords is being made with a committee now formed and affiliations made with Swords Cycling Club, BMX Ireland and Cycling Ireland.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The committee has also written to Fingal County Council to request a meeting in relation to talks about what land may be available within the Swords area to build the BMX track on.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

‘We now have the key people in place and now we are waiting to sit down with the council to show them where we are at,’ said Ken Doyle of The United Left Alliance.<\/p>\n

‘It is all going positive and there has been a great reaction among residents and the young people in Swords to have such a facility built,’ he added.<\/p>\n

‘It’s all gathering momentum and the support is amazing.’<\/p>\n

The initial concept for a BMX track came about when Swords teenagers Brian Gillen<\/strong> (16) and his friends, all who participate in the sport nationally, wanted a BMX track built in the locality.<\/p>\n
