Prior to that I had been a keen off-road and on-road motorcyclist racing (slowly) in Enduro and Moto-X events!I love bike racing and will regularly be seen competing at XC, Cyclo-X and even road races where I make up for my lack of ability by pushing my aging body beyond reasonable limits! With the rebirth of BMX racing in Ireland in 2011, I welcomed the opportunity to get back on the saddle and participated in the 2012 National BMX Race Series. My body wasn\u2019t quite as enthusiastic about racing again as I was after nearly 20 years, but I had a blast anyway!<\/p>\n<div>I am working toward attaining Level One certification as a Cycling Ireland coach with a view to specialising in MTB and BMX.<\/div>\n<div>I am working with a group in Tullamore to get a BMX Race Track and Cycle Training Academy established which will cater to cyclists from all disciplines including BMX, Commuter, CycloX, Leisure, MTB, Road and Track.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>My aim is to bring a little cohesion to the efforts of everyone involved in off-road cycling in Ireland no matter what discipline and get as many people trying out different disciplines also. For 2012 we aim to have some training days, have the squad racing the full IDMS series &amp; BDS as well and some international events. My background is that I have worked for the last 20 years as an Outdoor Instructor and for the last ten years I have ran my own business which offers tuition in Surfing, Sea Kayaking, Coasteering etc. I have also travelled extensively around the world on many adventures. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<div><em> I have vast experience of working with young people and helping them to achieve their potential in adventure sports. My Mountain Biking experience is wide and varied but it is XC that I am most passionate about. I race at Munster &amp; NPS Level and finished the Transalp Mountain Bike Race in 2012. <\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em>I am also a father of 2 great kids who both enjoy their Mountain Biking. I have been the main trail builder in Dunmanway Co Cork since 2002, ran a few races there including 4 DH NPS races before the the last felling break there I was also a founding member of the Rebel racing club which has since merged with 021racing. its my first time on the MTB commission but I have been the MTB rep on the Munster council for 2004 and 2005. A group of us are working on putting together a BMX race scene here starting with a track in Ratoath and hopefully building from there.
