{"id":2835,"date":"2012-03-08T09:59:15","date_gmt":"2012-03-08T09:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bmxireland.ie\/?p=60"},"modified":"2012-03-16T09:54:53","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T09:54:53","slug":"cherry-orchard-indoor-track-opens-for-racing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.offroadcyclingireland.ie\/wordpress\/2012\/03\/08\/cherry-orchard-indoor-track-opens-for-racing\/","title":{"rendered":"Cherry Orchard indoor track opens for racing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bmxireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/429685_190313224418302_100003188761945_254102_1425100110_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-166\" title=\"cherry orchard\" src=\"http:\/\/bmxireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/429685_190313224418302_100003188761945_254102_1425100110_n-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"cherry orchard\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just weeks after the successful launch of Ratoath BMX track in Co Meath, Dubliners now have a facility of their own following the opening of the Cherry Orchard indoor BMX track.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The facility, which is contained in a large warehouse in Cherry Orchard industrial estate beside Ballyfermot in west\u00a0Dublin, has already been christened with a great day\u2019s racing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kids from the age of five years to those well into the veteran stages of their twenty-inch careers took to the track for a thrilling meeting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the new facility comes at a time of significant resurgence in BMX in\u00a0Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The track in Ratoath \u2013 which is outdoor and more challenging than Cherry Orchard \u2013 has drawn huge crowds since it opened before Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It also appears that\u00a0Ireland\u00a0may have a BMX rider at the London Olympics, in the shape of Kelvin Batey.
