We’ve just received the following cyclocross news from the UCI:
1 2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships
The World Championships will take place this year for the first time in the USA, in the
city of Louisville on 2nd and 3rd February 2013.
1.1 Program
The program is available on the UCI website on the following link:

1.2 Online registration
The online registration system will open on January 14 and close on January 22,
12:00 CET. The registration must be done through the UCI web service as usually,
through the national federations.

2 2012-2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup

2.1 Registration deadlines
The Cyclo-cross World Cup will start on October 21 in Tabor (CZE). The online
registration system will open, for this first round, on October 5 and close on October
15, 12:00 CET.

UCI BMX News Update

We’ve just received the following BMX news from the UCI:
1 UCI BMX Permanent Number system
We remind you that the National Federation shall submit the application form to receive a permanent number (see attachment) [available numbers]for the 2013 season before the deadline fixed on 15th October 2012. Applications received after 15th October will not be treated.
Riders who ended in top 8 at the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships are obliged to race with their world number 1 – 8. They will keep the right on their career number (art. 6.1.075). If there are multiple requests for one number, the rider with the highest ranking will have the first right of choice (first elilte, then junior), according to the ranking of 14th August 2012.

The 2012 Offroad Commission AGM takes place on Saturday October 6th at Taylors Three Rock, Rathfarnham, Dublin. The schedule for the day is as follows:
- Morning – Casual spin around Three Rock
- 2pm – soup and sandwiches for hungry bikers
- 3pm – Offroad Commission AGM
- 4:30pm – 2012 prize-giving ceremony

Halloween Spook MTB Race

Trailriders.ie present the Halloween Spook MTB Race at Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park on October 28th at Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park, Ardpatrick, Co. Limerick. The race comprises two stages:
- Day – 11am – 27km
- Night – 6:30pm – 11km
Both stages are an inpidual time-trial and both times combined gives us the over all winner, the course will be different from every other halloween race. Riders can enter either stage independently but to win you have to enter both. The stages consist of Ballyhoura trails and some variations both day and night with a mix of singletrack and natural terrain.
Fancy dress for night time stage with plenty of ghostly guests on the trails throughout …
The cost of entry is €35 and food provided in the price for between stages.

MTB Rendezvous 2012 – Cancelled

Bad news from the organisers of the MTB Rendezvous:
We are in the unfortunate position of announcing the cancellation of the MTB Rendezvous 2012, due to take place in Knockree Youth Hostel this coming Sunday, 23rdSeptember.
We have received tremendous support for this new format of socialising on a bike, which encompasses all the good things about cycling. Both from the cycling industry in Ireland, the many individuals and cycling clubs looking to participate to the local businesses who welcome cyclist through their doors every weekend.
Unfortunately the success of this novel idea has been its down fall and has brought concerns from the forestry state body Coillte regarding access to their lands and the byelaws covering this. Due to these concerns we will not be continuing with the Rendezvous.
As organisers of the Rendezvous, our sole objective was to provide a social lunch for all who arrived at Knockree by which ever means they wished. It has never been to organise the routes anyone cycled.
Keen cyclist as we are, we are not members of any Cycling Ireland club, nor was this a competitive event. However the threat hanging over future Cycling Ireland events on Coillte land has been too great. We respect Coillte’s concerns and the byelaws governing their forests and access and do not want to jeopardise any future MTB events with the possibility of substantial numbers of cyclists on their land.
So I would ask all cyclists to do what you do every Sunday and enjoy your biking in designated trails. Thank you again for the interest you have shown in Rendezvous.

MAD Presents: King of Three Rock 2012

The Mountainbiking Association of Dublin are happy to announce a new event on the Enduro calendar. The King of Three Rock is a two day Enduro MTB event on October 13th/14th 2012 which includes the Team-Trail-Thrash (Saturday), and Dixie-Dash races (Sunday), culminating in the ultimate accolade for any mountain biker in the country – the crowning of the King of Three Rock!!
We’ve done a lot of planning to put in trails that go from some of the highest points to the lowest points on Three Rock, with 3 stages feature a vertical drop of approx 500 ft each!

MTB Orienteering Events

There are some mountain bike orienteering events being organised by Leinster orienteering clubs this autumn. Unfortunately the first one was last week (at Djouce) but the next two are still to come – Carrick Mountain, Glenealy on Saturday Sept 15th and Curragh, Co. Kildare on Sunday October 7th.
The Djouce race had two courses, the longer was about 16 km. Carrick will be similar. Start 11.30-1 pm.

Ballyhoura Outdoor Recreation Course

The Ballyhoura FAS Outdoor Course which is currently accepting applications and due to start in late September 2012. Ballyhoura Outdoor Recreation Course is a challenging 40 week full time course that provides participants with expert tuition to develop the skills, knowledge and qualifications necessary to gain employment in the outdoor adventure sector. Based in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, a typical day sees participants mountain biking the Ballyhoura trails, hill walking in the Galtees or kayaking on Lough Gur or the Lower Shannon. The course is run by Ballyhoura Development Ltd in association with FAS.
To qualify for the course, participants must have an interest in sport and an ambition to work in the outdoors. Applicants should be aged over 18 years.
