2010 Cycling Ireland Offroad AGM details

The 2010 Cycling Ireland Offroad AGM will be held on Saturday Nov 13th. in Lynham’s Hotel, Laragh Co. Wicklow.

Important notice for all 2010 National Championship medal winners:
In a change from previous years, all 2010 Off-road National Championship Medals will be presented at the Off-road Commission Prize giving Ceremony on Saturday 13th November 2010.

Lynham’s are offering an accommodation deal: Special rate of €99 per room of twin / double occupancy incl. breakfast (normal rate is €120), when booking mention “Cycling Ireland”.

Schedule as follows:

10:00 – Mountain bike spins – there will be serveral spins to accomodate the different rider levels. Meeting time/area will be posted later. There will likely be a spin on Sunday to help clear the heads!

14:30 – MTB AGM (Lynham’s Hotel, Laragh, Co. Wicklow)

16:00 – DH and XC event coordination Meetings (for race organisers, plan season, standards etc.)

19:00 – Prize Giving for XC & DH NPS & Leinster XC League (We will have finger food etc).

21:00 – MTB videos and a few drinks. (Ronan Kavanagh aka Flexo will be selling copies of his excellent 2010 DH season video)

Nominations
A number of positions on the commission are either up for re-election or are being vacated.
Elections will take place for the positions of Chairman, Secretary & Treasurer, plus there will be a number of openings for regular commission members.
If you wish to put Nominations forward to the AGM please send them to offroad.commission@gmail.com by Friday 5th November. (Nominations will not be taken on the day).

The Offroad Commission requests that all riders who are receiving trophys make an effort to come and be presented with their trophy. Click here for the list of all trophy winners.

We have created an Online Registration form for all participants so we can get an idea of numbers, please fill-out the form below.
Trophy winners need to advise us if they can make the meeting to collect their trophy – there is section on the form for you to advise the name of someone attending who can collect the trophy on your behalf.

Off-road Commission Awards 2010

For 2010 the Off-road commission is introducing a series of awards to recognise events and individuals who have stood out over the season. There will be six categories, listed below. Five of which are down to you to decide upon. Any licence holder can cast a vote, up until midnight on Tuesday 9th November, the winners will be announced at the prize giving and presented with a fine lump of glass.
These awards are separate to the Cycling Ireland membership awards which will be announced separately.

Best XC race of 2010 (Excluding National Championships)
This award is for the Cross Country event that people feel was a cut above the rest. It could be the best organised, the best course, the best racing, or simply just your favourite for whatever reason. It can be an NPS, regional event or even a small local event, anything except the Nationals (which you can vote for under “Best event”).

Best DH race of 2010 (Excluding National Championships)
This award is for the Downhill Event that people feel was a cut above the rest. It could be the best organised, the best course, the best craic, or simply just your favourite for whatever reason. It can be an NPS or Winter League, anything except the Nationals (which you can vote for under “Best event”).

Best event of 2010
This award is for the Best Irish Mountain Bike Event of the year. The biggest, the best, the one that made the impression, for whatever reason. The contenders are the National Championships for the various disciplines, and other high profile standalone events.

Best XC competitor of 2010
This award is for the Irish Cross Country Rider that people feel has really stood out during the year. It can be the guy or girl won most races, the person who pulled off the biggest upset, the guy / girl who was always there with a smile of their face giving it 100%. The person who showed the biggest improvement or just simply a rider you admire for whatever reason. It’s entirely up to you to decide.

Best DH competitor of 2010
This award is for the Irish Downhill Rider who people feel has really stood out during the year. It can be the guy or girl won most races, the person who pulled off the biggest upset, had the best crash, pulled the biggest whip or just the guy / girl who was always there with a smile of their face giving it 100%. The person who showed the biggest improvement or just simply a rider you admire for whatever reason. It’s entirely up to you to decide.

Biggest contribution to the scene
The commission has identified a special award to recognise the individual who did something during the year which really stood out and helped to make the world of Irish Mountain Biking a better place.

The form below has a section on it for you to vote for your favourite events and riders of 2010, so make sure you vote and give the clubs and riders the recognition they deserve.
